BMH Computers is
committed to providing a friendly and efficient service.
The following information has been written to answer many questions
that you may have, give you peace of mind when using BMH Computers and to
also act as our terms and conditions - all written in plain English.
Before Sales:
We want you to be confident when deciding
to place an order with us. Whenever you place a purchase online, you
should check a number of things including:
- is the website secure? We use
PayPal
for our shopping basket - look out for the padlock that will be
displayed in that window. Check out
PayPal's website for
more information.
- is the online store legitimate and is
it easy to get in touch with someone? Many online, warehouse-based
shops only provide a PO Box address. Not us, check out our Contact page for
our actual address. Also on our Contact
page is a form to get in
touch, e-mail address, and telephone number - no matter which method you use, you will get a quick response from a real person.
Should you need any help choosing the right product, would like to
enquire about a product that isn’t listed, or if you have any
questions about placing an order, you are welcome to get in touch.
Please remember that no guarantees can be made regarding the
compatibility of items with your existing equipment / hardware, and BMH
Computers can only advise to the best of its knowledge.
Postal Address:
You are welcome to send questions, comments, or orders via post. The
address can be found on the Contact
Page. It is a real address in the UK and not a PO Box.
Q. Why isn’t “BMH Computers” in the address?
A. To not give any hint as to what the contents of a letter or
package may be should you be sending payment or returning an item. Brian
Harris is the proprietor of BMH Computers and is the person who will
deal with any part of your comment, question, or order.
Q. I live
locally, can I come and talk in person or collect an item?
A. Yes, please get in touch before hand to make an appointment to ensure
someone is available.
Q. What are your opening hours?
A. Opening hours are usually from Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4pm, but
appointments can be made outside these times also to better suit you.
Q. Do you have a separate return address like some companies do for
items that may be faulty?
A. No, all returns are sent to our UK based address, and no “RMA”
number is required - our customers are treated as people and not
reference numbers!
E-mail address:
The e-mail address can be found on the Contact
Page, please include
“BMH Computers“ in the subject line to ensure your e-mail isn‘t
mistaken for junk mail. We aim to respond to e-mails the same day
providing they are received during our opening hours, otherwise
generally the next working day. If you don’t receive a reply within a
couple of working days please re-send the e-mail, it may have been
discarded as junk mail or not reached us for some reason.
Telephone:
Our telephone number can be found on the Contact
Page.
Q. Why do you only have a mobile number available? I heard it’s not
safe to buy from Internet companies if they don’t provide a landline
number?
A. Sometimes we are out
delivering or repairing computers or not in the office so it is more
convenient for us to use a mobile telephone. Plus it means you can get
in touch out of our normal working hours should you need to.
No matter how you get in touch, please be certain that all your
details will be kept confidential and will only be used to deal with
your request / order.
Sales:
You can pay for many of our items via the website and pay
using PayPal. Items that are listed but cannot be paid for
via the website can only be personally collected unless delivery is
pre-arranged. Items can also be paid for by cheque, or postal orders
using our
printable order form.
We ask that you only purchase items if you know how to install them.
If you live locally please get in touch to discuss the installation
costs for a particular item. We don’t make enough money on our items
to offer free support.
Over the years the prices of computer parts have dropped, mainly due
to the low manufacturing and labour costs in the countries where they
are produced. BMH Computers is based entirely in the UK, please keep
this in mind when purchasing computer parts and products.
Delivery:
All items that can be purchased via the website
using
PayPal have postage costs
included in the price of the item when it is added to the basket. When an
item is added to the shopping basket, the price in the basket is the
price you pay - no other charges are added as you complete the secure checkout
process.
Small / individual items, where practical, are sent via First Class
Royal Mail. Large quantities, larger items, or more valuable items may be sent via other
means, such as a courier. You are welcome to
get in touch to discuss
delivery methods to suit you.
Providing orders are received on a
working day before 3pm, the items you require are in stock, and our
local Post Office is open, we aim to dispatch them the next working day.
Most often we have orders dispatched the same day and many customers
have received their items the next working day.
Used and refurbished items may take an
extra day to prepare.
If paying by cheque or postal order, we will contact you when we
receive your payment.
We will contact you to let you know when your item has been
dispatched or if a particular item is out of stock.
If an item is damaged in transit with
Royal Mail, it is advised that you either send the item back to us and
we will put in a claim for compensation from Royal Mail, or to avoid
postage costs, you can put in a claim to Royal Mail yourself and use the
compensation to re-purchase the item.
The majority of our smaller items are
sent via Royal Mail 1st Class to get them to you as quickly as possible.
However, if such items aren't received, it is advised that you get in
touch with your local Royal Mail sorting office. Royal Mail have a
certain length of time before they deem an item to be lost and
compensation can be claimed, and we cannot risk sending out replacements
while items may still be in transit.
Installation:
Prior to the installation of hardware / software (either by yourself
of by BMH Computers), it is recommended that you back-up your files, and
use the System Restore feature in your operating system (if available)
to create a restore point. BMH Computers cannot be held responsible
should the installation of hardware / software cause adverse effects on
a computer system, or cause the loss of data / files / earnings.
We ask that you follow all supplied instructions carefully and should
you have any difficulties that you contact the manufacturer if possible.
BMH Computers can only offer assistance and install products at its
hourly rate.
Returns / After Sales:
All new items, except consumables and software / games, that are purchased
from us in person or via our website carry a 12 month Return
To Base (RTB) warranty unless otherwise stated. Second-hand and
refurbished parts purchased from us in person or via our website carry a
6 month Return To Base (RTB) warranty unless otherwise stated.
Modems and Power Supplies carry a 6 month
warranty. This is because the most common cause of fault with these
items is power surges and lightening - we have no control over this. We
sell surge protection.
We ask that you keep all packaging materials and your receipt.
Failure to return an item complete as it was originally supplied to you may
prevent us from returning the item to our supplier and thus prevent us
from dealing with your return.
If an item you receive is faulty or develops a fault within the first
12 months of purchase, and the fault is not due to misuse or improper
handling, please get in touch to explain the problem. It is our
experience that problems found are
usually due to incorrect set up, so it is convenient for both parties if
this can be ruled out before an item is returned.
When you purchase an item, postage costs included in the price only
cover postage one way, and thus we cannot pay for items to be returned
to us.
Once we have received the returned item and tested it to confirm the
fault, and it is agreed that the fault is not due to improper use or
handling, we will send you a replacement and out of good faith we will
incur these postage costs.
If we are unable to offer an exact
replacement, we will offer an alternative.
If no fault is found, or the item appears to have been subject to
improper use or handing, postage and packaging costs will be required to
return the item to you, labour costs may be due and no refund will be available.
In accordance with the Distance Selling
Regulations, you are entitled to return an item within 7 working days
that has been purchased via this website that doesn't have a fault for a
refund of the item price, providing the item hasn't been used and is
in its original and re-saleable condition. For items purchased in store
that are returned, we reserve the right to reject a return or charge a
re-stocking fee. This is because we cannot re-sell items for the same
amount or return items to our suppliers if items have been
opened/packaging damaged or items used in any way.
We do our best to ensure all
descriptions, details, and pictures for items are accurate. It is
recommended that you contact us before purchasing / ordering an item to
confirm a particular detail.
Please get in touch if you have any questions regarding these terms
and conditions.
