I have been a visitor to Second Life since August 2010 and while these days I try and limit my time there you can still find some things here on the topic.

Modding and Adventuring in around Bellisserian: August 2019

While I strive to limit my time online and in Second Life, while I do spend time there I like to be active. I recently discovered an area called Bellisserian and it seems ideal for exploring and reminds me of the road trip I took in Second Life a good few years ago now.

Bellisserian is still fairly new I think and new regions being added to it, but it currently spans 22 x 19 regions at its extremes. It is also linked to areas of "Mainland" to the north and south with stretches of water linking them all together.

There are numerous rezzing zones for boats, cars and also aircraft, making it ideal for exploring and I have been using these for continuing my journeys.

Rezzing zones are listed on the official website below but the map there isn't quite up-to-date. Here is my updated version:

1 - Baxby Gulf
3 - Coral Waters
7 - Plafil Waters
12 - Norse Auk
17 - SSPE88
20 - Washburn
21 - Echo Cove
24 - Calm Waves
26 - Springhurst Gulf
27 - Noggin Light
28 - Light of Aurelia

National Unplugging Day 2019:

I believe National Unplugging Day takes place on the first Friday of March each year, but I didn't realise I had missed it until August, so I took part on my own on Sunday 4th August. You can read about it here:

Second Life - from addiction to improvements:
27/11/16:

Today I received an e-mail from Linden Lab, who launched Second Life way back in 2003, informing me of “15 exciting improvements and features that make Second Life better than ever in 2018 and beyond!” I don’t share their enthusiasm but what better way to finally post a new topic on the thing I have been participating in/playing/logging into for over five years?!

Deleting Friends in Second Life:
27/11/16:

It seems there are two types of people online, in Second Life at least, but perhaps other places like Facebook too… deleters and deletees.

Deleters delete people they no longer consider to be friends; they become bothered by people on their friend lists who they no longer speak to; perhaps they were once people who they chatted to every time they saw them online, but now, for some reason, all is quiet; they might see them come online and disappear again and struggle with not saying hi, and they might avoid saying hi because they felt like/realised they were always the one saying hi, or maybe they did so and got ignored a few too many times.

Deletees are on the receiving end of the deleters. They’re the ones that get deleted, or, they seem unbothered by having a friend list full of people they don’t speak to any more.

Internet Addiction:
15/08/16:

This post is divided into the following three groups of “Inputs” - you can read the whole topic here.

The first, a radio show, is the most recent and finally spurred me on to publish this topic. It’s lengthy in its own right, but I wanted to combine all these ‘Inputs’ together – this section also gives most insight into my personal issue.
Then there is what I shall call here the JW Input, a leaflet.
Following that, a couple of videos I found on Youtube; the final one is great and covers ten points which are what I want to end this topic on and if you don’t want to read everything here right now please skip to that final part.
